  1. I will continue my build updates in a new thread here:
  2. Also ordered tube stripe masks from trooperbay. Once they arrive I'll be painting on the helmet tube stripes in flat black.
  3. And so it begins... Started rough cuts today. Shoulder bells, biceps, thighs. And my boots arrived last week.
  4. @xtra Good to know that my thought process was on track regarding that. On a sad note I'm going to have to put off starting on my build till next weekend. On the bright side of things my boots arrived today. Got a smoking bargain on GH Bass Amsterdams used but look like they have only been worn/walked in a few times at most and for $24 I couldn't pass them up.
  5. Thanks @xtrachrispy, I'm hoping to begin work on my TX this weekend. I've been doing research and will probably be spending day one trying to round up the majority of tools ect. that I don't have laying around. Also, I was thinking about ordering the bracket set from trooperbay, it looks like it would be quite useful. It looks like it could be quite useful. On the other hand it also looks like it could end up promoting cracks at the edges of the armor when put through the rigors of trooping. Any thoughts opinions or advice is much appreciated.
  6. So, first let me say hello, again. I've not been here to the Mid South Garrison site in some time ... about 10 years. That said I have recently acquired an Anovos Shadowtroopoer armor kit (new old stock). I plan on starting work on assembling everything (other than the helmet as the kit came with it already assembled) in the next few weeks. I am hoping to be able to end up with a TX armor set that any member of the 501st could be proud of. I thought I would return here as it seems to be a great community full of helpful people and resources. I'd put off for some time getting back around to working on another Stormtrooper costume until I could do it right. I have a set of white armor that I purchased probably 10 years ago at a bargain price (Rubies... I know, I know). It served it's purpose especially after spending time rigging up a strapping system on it that would actually hold things in place. I had a good idea that I'd never have a chance of joining the 501st with that armor. So here I am 10 years later hopefully off to a good start and will hopefully be on my way to having a set of black armor that any member of the 501st would be proud of. All that said I hope to be posting pictures of my progress in the coming weeks.

Hey Jason, Thanks, how are you? It's been quite a while.
  8. Greetings

Great tuts there, thanks. It would be nice to be accepted by the 501st. But to be honest if they are going to get that picky then they should sit down some time and look through all the pics displayed for all their members on the official page. There are many I'm sure that are far from screen accurate. No big deal to me though, I just have fun suiting up and hitting Adventure con and misc places during the Halloween season etc.
  9. Greetings

I attached a front and back pick of my base Stormtrooper outfit as it currently stands. I need to make some tweaks to the way everything is held together so this weekend it's off to Wal-mart/hardwarre store for pop rivet gun snaps, cement etc ....
  10. Greetings

My sis TI 9653 is in the Orlando area. I appreciate the offer though I was reading about others using water based paints for weathering which sounds like it would work well and clean up easily too. I just picked up some boots today that I believe will work well though I need to redye them. They are Borelli Junction leather ankle boots (should be easy enough to google a pic) and the look is on target but color is black.
  11. Greetings

Basically your standard Stormtrooper add a pauldron (white, black or orange) backpack (optional) and maybe a what was it? a T-21 heavy rifle? perhaps a water based paint for a bit of dirt and grim look.
  12. Greetings

I actually have a set of white armor though it does need some work. I am wanting to make modifications to Sandtrooper. I also have some Jedi (Anakin/Obi-Wan) costumes I've put together over the last few years. Look forward to it. Just getting over a bout with the flu. I hope to make it to Adventure Con this weekend though.
  13. Greetings

My name is Craig Dorsey. I currently reside in Sevierville, TN. My sister, TI 9653, is a member of the 501st Florida Garrison. Also I believe I know Jason aka TS 1620 via an old mutual friend, Tad. My sister has been after me to look into joining a local Garrison of the 501st for some time. I found the MidSouth Garrison via the 501st web site. I requested access to this discussion board so that I might learn more about the 501st, MidSouth Garrison, events, costuming, etc.
